Meet the Poet
Katherine Gallagher is a widely-published Australian-born poet resident in North London since 1979. She has five full-length poetry collections, most recently Carnival Edge: New & Selected Poems (Arc Publications, 2010). She has received numerous awards for her work including the Warana Prize, a Literature Board of Australia Writer’s Fellowship, a Royal Literary Fund Award and a Society of Authors’ Foundation Award. She translated Jean-Jacques Celly’s epic poem Le Somnambule aux Yeux d’Argile published by Forest Books (1994) as The Sleepwalker with Eyes of Clay. She has read her poetry at festivals and universities in the UK, Australia, Germany, Italy and France and her poems have been translated into French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Romanian and Serbian. She represented Australia as a Parnassus Poet in 2012. She also writes poems for children, many of which appear in anthologies. She maintains a website for her poetry and invites your visit. Read.
