Meet the Poet

Jessica L. Davis

Picture
Jessica L. Davis was born and raised among the pines and shores of Michigan's heartscape. Its interplay of water and light--and then nature itself--were the catalysts that sparked her love affair with writing. After earning a degree in psychology, working in the aviation field, and beginning a family in the Ohio area, she spent four years living and working to encourage grass roots humanitarian aid start-ups in the highlands of Kenya. An introduction to Wendell Berry's work while in Kenya began her first recognition of embracing words within as a calling. Mysticism and ancient voices seem to resonate most deeply with her, especially Rumi, Gibran, J. Krishnamurti and Tara Singh. But it is the sacred act of writing itself that transforms her every day life into a presence that "illuminates in all the right places." She currently lives tucked away in a wooded home with her husband, two teen children, and one very lively dog. She  tweets @jessicajots and maintains a blog for her writing at Twenty Sentences, and invites your visit to both. VerseWrights is her first publishing experience. Read.
