Meet the Poet

Edjo Frank

Picture
Edjo Frank has always read and written poetry, and considers it "part of his spirit." His poems are written mostly in Dutch, with a number translated into English. He also writes English poems. He has a special interest in short poems: haiku, gogyohka and free form. These he mostly writes in English and posts on Twitter, Facebook and his Wordpress weblog. To express his feelings in as compressed a manner as possible, and in a minimal format, gives him a particular thrill. A major event in this regard was the realization of the poetry project and multi-media exhibition Tragedies to Remember, a tribute to his grandparents who were  murdered in the Holocaust. His writing has appeared in a number of publications, such as the Journal of Jewish Studies, Meander, and Ten Poems on Freedom, staged at the National Freedom Festival, 2012 (you can see a video here). Besides writing poems and finishing his first complete novel, his creative side is served with playing classical, Spanish and electric guitar. He lives in Dordrecht, the oldest city of the Netherlands. Read.
