Meet the Poet

Simon Kindt

Picture
"Daylighting in education, moonlighting in poetry," Simon Kindt is a relative newcomer to writing and the Australian spoken word scene.  Seeing himself primarily as a ‘stage poet’, he has recently performed at the Brisbane Emerging Arts Festival, Poets Dressed as Men, and is one of the esteemed, monthly call-back poets for Speedpoets, one of the best-loved and longest-running of Brisbane’s poetry events. He is currently working on his first chapbook collection and building a youth slam community in Brisbane to provide opportunities for teenage writers and performers to share their work. Simon’s work explores the sublime and the ordinary in the colliding territories of landscape, the body, and "the whole human mess." He has an open, gentle performance style, a generous grasp of human emotion, and a willingness to carefully peel back the seemingly ordinary to reveal what lies underneath. You can read more of his work at his blog on Wordpress. Read.
