Meet the Poet

Cristina Umpfenbach

Picture
Cristina Umpfenbach was once a staff reporter for a German travel magazine, and also a researcher for the German Tourist Bureau. Now, however, she writes poetry and short stories. Her work appears in the Desperanto Publishers “Secret’s” series; the In The Company of Women anthology published by Edgar & Lenore’s Publishing House; and, in … and it happened under cover, a Nightwing publication. She has been featured in various e-zines, including Guttereloquence and Gorrila Pamphlet, among others, and has a collection of poetry Harmonies & Discords (2015). She also translates light fiction and a variety of different genres from German to English and vice versa. Cristina was raised and educated in Germany, and subsequently lived in France (Provence) for a number of years before moving to Manhattan, where she resided in Greenwich Village for twenty years. She visited Portland, Oregon, a few years ago which prompted her to settle in the Pacific Northwest. She now lives in Ridgefield, Washington, just a jump over the river to Portland. She loves the mountains and the rugged shores here, and does not mind the rain, a fair trade off for the beautiful summers, she says.  Read.
