She was a dedicated Math tutor for many years until she migrated to Sacramento, California and discovered her two great passions – writing children’s stories and Japanese short-form poetry. Aside from being a published children’s writer, with books such as The Magic Paintbrush, Zoobooloo, and An Afternoon in Julia's World, she is also an award-winning haiku and tanka poet. Her work has been published in various international journals and anthologies such as Ribbons, A Hundred Gourds, Frogpond, Presence, Skylark, Moonbathing, Prune Juice, red lights, Cattails, Sonic Boom, and Hedgerow. Her book, entitled The Bluebird’s Cry, is a collection of Japanese short-form poetry about her journey through grief and loss. She maintains a website for her poetry entitled Blossom Rain to which she invites your visit. She is also the founder and editor of Frameless Sky, a bi-annual poetry video journal showcasing haiku and tanka poets, visual artists, and musicians. If she is not busy writing, you can find her taking photographs, creating jewelry, or playing the ukulele. Read.
