Meet the Poet


Angele Ellis

Picture

​Angele Ellis saw Buddhist monks dancing under a theatre marquee featuring her haiku, after she won Pittsburgh Filmmakers' G-20 Haiku Contest. She is the author of Arab On Radar (Six Gallery Press), which earned her an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Spared (a Main Street Rag Editors' Choice Chapbook), and Under the Kaufmann's Clock: Fiction, Poems, and Photographs of Pittsburgh (Six Gallery), with photos by Rebecca Clever. Her poetry, fiction, and reviews have appeared in over fifty publications and twelve anthologies—including Prime Number, Grasslimb, Mizna, Theian Journal, Rogue Agent, American Book Review, tinywords, and YEW. She is a contributing editor for Al Jadid Magazine, and lives in the Friendship neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Read.
